Christmas Fun!

Our family Christmas tradition started the day before when our family all went hiking together at a metropark. 

We also went to visit the train exhibit at the Children's museum.  The kids had fun riding the kid sized train and then fending off all the other kids at the train table.  Just kidding.  But there was a train table that was set up with an elaborate track that the kids had a blast pushing their trains around. 

After the trains and the hiking we went to see the new muppet movie.  After all that we went home and had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner, scripture reading and nativity re-enactment.








The next morning we got up and opened gifts and then shared our toys with each other.  Taylor got a new mountain bike.

 Miriya got a class ring and lots of kitchen items to use when she moves away.

 Isaac got a Leapster explorer.  Unfortunately, Santa thought that it would be too old/difficult for Nick so he did not get one.  This has turned out to be some trouble so we will have to pick one up at the after Christmas sale in order to keep peace in the house. 


Nick got some play dough and some blocks.  Everyone got passes to Kings Island for next summer.

I went to work in the afternoon.  I don't know what it is about a holiday but it always brings out the best cases.  This is what I saw:

For those of you who don't know how to read a pelvis xray, the bones in a line in the middle are the spine.  The bones on the sides that look like wings are the pelvis/hip bones.  Those pointy objects in the middle are razors and a knife that this guy swallowed.  Although this was the first time I had seen him, he has actually had over 30 surgeries to remove other pointy objects he has swallowed in the past.  Since his abdomen is not conducive to surgery due to so much scar tissue the surgeons are just going to wait and see if they come out on their own.  If they perforate his bowel then he will go to surgery, otherwise...he will just have to pass the knives out the other end.  OUCH!
