For our Memorial Weekend, we decided to have some adventure. Tom has been begging me to try rock climbing. I have been resistant, fear of heights and whatnot, but he finally won out and we went to the climbing gym first thing on Saturday morning. After being instructed on knots and belaying we were set loose to climb. Everyone loved it, including me, go figure. We had a few embarrassing episodes, like putting on Isaac's harness backwards but ultimately we learned a lot and can't wait to try out our new skills on the rocks in the Red River Gorge.

That evening the YMCA was offering Parent's Night Out. We don't usually get a babysitter for the little guys but this was a good opportunity for Tom and I to take Taylor mountain biking. Sometimes the older kids miss out on old kid activities since we always seem to have the younger ones in tow. Plus, hopefully this was incentive for Isaac to learn to ride his bike. He was disappointed that he couldn't come mountain biking with us. We assured him that as soon as he could ride a two wheeler we would take him. We had about 2 hours before the sun set and we made the most of it riding on the single track over logs and roots and through the streams. We all got good and muddy, no serious falls.

We went to church and then a hike through the Metro Park on Sunday. We brought the nets to catch frogs at our favorite frog catching pond but there weren't very many. We could only have one frog race. I guess we will just have to go back later.

On Monday we wanted to go kayaking but it was too cold. We settled for a movie instead. OK that part wasn't too adventurous but then you have to roll with it when the weather doesn't cooperate with your plans. We saw Epic which the kids enjoyed. It wasn't too bad from an adult perspective either although the female characters were woefully underdeveloped.
All in all a very fun entrance into summer. Nick's last day of school was last week. Taylor ends this Thursday and Isaac's last day is next week. I guess we better get planning more adventures.
