My Modifiers

Growing up my Dad was always fixing things. There wasn't a tool, machine or gadget that he couldn't fix or improve upon. I suppose that girls really do marry guys just like their fathers because Tom has all kinds of gadgets and fix it projects throughout the house as well. Some are quite successful and others, well, they are a little more notorious. Taylor seems to have picked up the modifier gene too. He also has projects throughout the house that he has improved upon. Here is a small sampling of the modifications that we live with.

Taylor:

Super hooty knots. What are they used for? No one knows, but don't try to untie it or else!


Electrical circuits gleaned from old DVDs, VCRs and hard drives, have been rewired to do all sorts of interesting things.


Need a wallet? Taylor can make you one out of duct tape. What a fashion statement.



After we got the cuckoo clock, the weights are so long that they hang down where the babies can reach them. Taylor rigged up this little basket to hold the chains so no grabbing hands can hurt the clock. Pretty ingenious.


Now Tom...

We always need more storage space in the garage. Tom's solution? Build a shelf above the cars. He has a handy cabinet to place one corner on so he doesn't even have to hang the one side. Hope the shelf doesn't slip and drop the roof racks on the car underneath!


Anyone playing rock band will recognize the broken drum pedal. After replacing the pedal twice Tom modified it with a metal plate. Has worked like a charm since!


Tom and his shower...evidently he wants to be sprayed from the front and the back. Unfortunately, his invention also sprays the ceiling and the wall. (This is one of the notorious ones.) He will have to take it down when we sell the house, it just looks too dorky.


The pull up bar, there is one in every house we have lived in.



I may joke about it, but really, I am thankful that I live with a bunch of modifiers, fixers and inventors. They definitely make life interesting, and usually make it better.
