A Saturday in Spring

Today was the first beautiful spring Saturday that we have had here. We were so excited to have great weather and no other committments. What did we do? Go biking! We hauled out the bike trailer, dusted off the bike pump and hooked everything to the back of the car on the rack. We then set off for a new portion of the bike trail that we have never ridden. After a stop at Subway for lunch we arrived and rode for 2 hours down the trail. We then stopped for a picnic near a small creek. We played for a while in the creek making many discoveries nearby. Tom just about sat on a small turtle. After he was nearly smashed by everyone as we walked around, Miriya rushed him to safety on the other side of the creek. We found bugs, fish, tadpoles and rocks. You can never go to a body of water an not throw in a rock. We also had boat races where everyone picks a leaf, twig, trash, whatever and floats it down the creek. A little further on the bike trail we found a playground. Nick discovered the slide. He absolutely loves it. He can crawl up the play structure's stairs, crawl along the walkway over to the slide and then slide down on his stomach, feet first, giggling the whole way down. He will then hop off and crawl back over to the stairs to do it all over again. It would be easier to walk, but no, he still prefers to crawl. Tom and I were pretty suprised. Isaac just started going down the slide by himself at the end of summer last year. I guess Nick is just a little more daring. After pulling Nick off the slide we rode back to the car. 12 miles in all. Can't wait to do it again.
