Finally! It only took 2 years but Taylor has actually completed his Eagle project. He decided to build a bridge over a creek at a park that our family loves to hike at on weekends. It is a fairly new park and so needs some trail maintenence. Taylor managed to come up with building plans and gained approval from the park director. He then visited Lowes and Home Depot for donations of supplies. It seems that we had a trailer full of pressure treated lumber in our driveway for about a month. Last night was the big night and all the boys in the ward got together and built the bridge. Tom is in Kuwait so Taylor was truly on his own for this project. They started at 6pm and were done at 9:30. He treated them all to cold drinks from the cooler for their hard work. I am so proud of him for getting it all done.
A sister in our ward does wonderful woodworking projects. We commissioned her to carve Taylor's name, troop, and date into 2 boards on the bridge.
There are cones on the ends because the park is planning on filling the edges with gravel and dirt but haven't had a chance to do it as the bridge was just built yesterday. The little guys are running around in the rain. I hope they both become Eagle Scouts like their older brother.
