Brrritos

About once a year in Ohio there is a real cold snap. We are in the midst of it right now. The temperature doesn't get over 12 in the day and it much colder at night. The furnace seems to run all the time and the upstairs bedrooms still seem cold. Isaac has found a pouch of rice that we warm up in the microwave and put on his feet at night. He calls it his warmy and asks for it every night and has started asking for it while he watches TV and eats lunch. We also felt bad for the outside cat. Miriya set her up in the downstairs bathroom with food, water, her bed and a small catnip toy. I still like to put her out during the day, but she just meows at the door. I guess it is too cold for her too.
At work we get crazy homeless people that are nearly frozen to death, literally. It takes hours to warm someone that is really cold without their heart stopping and they usually need a breathing tube. If things don't go so well, ie you have to shock them or put them on bypass, you always get to try it again when you get the same guy 3-4 nights later in the same predicament. It usually has something to do with alcohol and heroin. I hope it warms up soon.
